Getting Started...

The first thing you need to decide is if you can have a permanent altar or if you will have to put it away each time. The kinds of things you use for your altar are very much up to your own personal taste and preferences. It's important that your altar be a reflection of your own spirituality. The first item of a permanent altar is the table. Some people prefer round tables, others like a square table.  some people use a large wooden chest. They can store everything inside and then use the top of the chest as an altar when in use. After selecting and cleansing a table or area for your altar, you should think about an altar cloth. These are usually decorated with symbols or images that add to your sense of magic or spirituality. Some people use different cloths depending on the season or colored cloth pertaining to the spell, example, green for money, pink for love, etc.  It is traditional to set up your altar facing either North or East. I personally prefer to set mine up facing East, (new beginnings).  After this, you need to decide which tools best suit your needs and set up your altar with them and other things which help you in your personal devotions or rituals. Divide the Altar in half with the Left side being related to the Goddess and feminine tools associated with the elements of Earth and Water. The Right side is related to the God and the masculine tools associated with the elements of Air and Fire. Oils, Herbs and other Candles can be placed anywhere convenient. You may also want to include your Book of Shadows (a book you put your spells in) and Ritual Pen for inscribing spells. Have fun and trust your intuition, use whatever you have, they are just tools, not magic.  (An altar is not required for your magic.)

North (Earth)  (Top of the altar)
Pentacle Bowl of Salt
Stones Plants - Flowers - Green Candle

West (Water) (Left side of Altar)
Bowl of Water -  Seashell - Chalice with Wine Cauldron -
Blue Candle

Center of Altar - Statues of your choice, Angels, Icons, etc. - Book of Shadows

East (Air) (Right side of Altar)
Incense Feather - Bell - Wand - Yellow Candle

South (Fire) ( South of the Altar) Anointing Oil - Candle Snuffer - Red Candle

 Money Spell

This may be done at any time, (preferably at the same time each day or night).
You will need a Green Candle and a White Candle. The Green candle represents the money, and the white candle represents you. Make sure you anoint the candles with olive oil first, thinking of your desire for money to come to you. Set the candles on your altar or table 9 inches apart. After doing this say...

"Money, money come to me
In abundance three times three
May I be enriched in the best of ways
Harming none on its way
This I accept, so mote it be
Bring me money three times three!"

Repeat this for nine days. Each day move the white candle one inch closer to the green candle. When the candles touch, your spell is finished. Make sure you visualize the money pouring in from the universe. (Remember, when money is achieved through magic, always give a little back.  To give is to receive.)

The Smoke Spell
Take a small green candle and mount it on a quarter. Then light the candle
and think about increasing your financial position for five minutes. Snuff  the candle out and “wash” your hands in the smoke.
Do this daily until your money increases.

Lottery Spells & Gambling Spells Can be used for any type of games. It will give you success in lottery, gambling, horse racing, bingo etc. Just say this words when the moon is full:

"Lady of luck come out of your hiden course
bless your light upon me as the light of the moon shines above
and in the light of luck will be blessed i, when the moon is next to be full."

Employment Spell

Large Gold or Yellow Candle

Light the gold or yellow colored candle and chant the following three times:

"A Good Job Awaits me I Know
For Thine Brilliant Light Scans
And searches A Place for Me
A Good Job Awaits Me
For Thine Goodness is Great
My Faith in Thee is Complete
A Good Job waits for Me."

Allow the candle to burn for 9 minutes. Perform this ritual every day until employment is found. (remember, do not pinch or blow out your candles)

Love Spell (Bath)

Supplies:
Pink or red candle
Cheesecloth
1 drop of your favorite oil
½ teaspoon of dill
¼ teaspoon of rosemary
¼ teaspoon of lavender
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
Timing - New Moon

Light a pink (for romance) or red (for passionate relationship) candle in your bathroom. Pour all of the ingredients in the cheesecloth and fill your bath with water.  Place the cheesecloth (tied) into the bath water and let it diffuse, visualize the kind of lover you want and what type of relationship you wish to have. Thank the Goddess/Gods and snuff out the candle (do not blow out!). Do not rinse or use soap! Let this beauty/attraction bath stay on you for the rest of the night.

House Protection Spell Bottle

Since the earliest spell bottles were created for protection.  Ideally, such a bottle will be walled up in a new home under construction, or placed under the floorboards. If this is impossible, simply place it in a position of importance somewhere in the home.

Supplies:
1 glass jar with cork stopper or lid (a small canning jar is fine)
1/2 to 1 cup salt (depending on size of the jar)
3 cloves garlic
9 bay leaves
7 TBS dried basil
4 TBS dill seeds
1 TBS sage
1 TBS anise
1 TBS black pepper
1 TBS fennel
1 bowl

In the morning, ideally on a bright and sunny day, assemble all items.

Place the salt into the bowl and say:
Salt that protects, protect my home and all within it.

Add the cloves of garlic to the bowl and say:
"Garlic that protects, protect my home and all within it."

Crumble the bay leaves, place in the bowl and say:
"Bay that protects, protect my home and all within it."

Add the basil and say:
"Basil that protects, protect my home and all within it."

Add dill and say:
"Dill that protects, protect my home and all within it."

Add the sage and say:
"Sage that protects, protect my home and all within it."

Add the anise and say:
"Anise that protects, protect my home and all within it."

Add the pepper and say:
"Pepper that protects, protect my home and all within it."

Add the fennel and say:
"Fennel that protects, protect my home and all within it."

Mix together the herbs and the salt with your hands. Through the movement of your hands and fingers, lend energy to the potent protective items.

Visualize your home as a shining, safe, guarded, secure place of sanctuary.

Pour the mixture into the jar. Seal tightly and place in your home with the following words:

"Salt and herbs, nine times nine
Guard now this home of mine.
It is done."

Health and Vitality Spell

Cut a circle from a white or yellow piece of paper. Write on the paper the words Health and Vitality. Add any specific health issues you wish to deal with, and in the center of the paper place a bay leaf, a small amount of cinnamon, and three grains of rice. Fold the paper into a packet to hold the ingredients. Take the packet in hand for a moment and concentrate on your healing intentions, sending that energy into the package. Place the paper in a fireproof container and light it on fire. As it burns, say;

"Sacred fire,
I pray to thee,
Release all bonds
And set this free-
That health and vitality
might come to me."

                        Why Spells Do not Work?
The 3 Top Reasons
1. Skills
Have you ever seen someone who cannot drive, trying to drive or someone who can't cook, trying to cook? They fluff around, here and there, brings upsetting, depressed or angry, annoyed or defeated  and the results are very iffy indeed, if ever we even get to a result that may well be a burned mess on a plate, or a car in a ditch.People, who start with anything at all, are going to be in that position. Magic is no different. Of course if you cannot do it and you do not have the skills yet, you are going to make a disappointing mess. You need to take your disappointment and anger or depression and say, "Right, so that was that. Let's do it again. See if I have learned anything yet?”Skills develop when you do something repeatedly and you learn from your previous experiences. That's a very important aspect of this, because just doing the same stupid old thing badly over and over again will ALWAYS give you the same bad results. You need to LEARN and CHANGE the way you approach the thing if you want to acquire skills. Sometimes, you need to learn to change your attitude - become more relaxed about it, wait until you are in a better frame of mind, or simply ask yourself what the worst problem was on this attempt, and work on that first for the next attempt to get some improvement going. The skills needed for magic include:
*Control your state of mind (be able to enter a wide variety of different meditative states, from very deep and calm to highly energized states);
*Control your focus of attention (to hold an idea or purpose steadily in mind);
*Visualize well (to see things, envision things, ideas, outcomes);
*Sense and feel energy (to be responsive to the invisible components of any given thing, or situation).
*Raise the energy and to evoke existences (to think and speak in such a way that it resonates and is real in the invisible realms).
These sorts of skills are quite unique to magic and even though each person is born with them, it takes a while for us to learn to do these things, and become good at them.Until we are, our magic will suffer from our lack of skills in that area. It does not mean you cannot do magic if you cannot do these things; it just means that if you were a cook, your meals would end up not being particularly good. But even a bad cook is better than no cook at all, so in that vein, do your thing and simply vow to get better at it over time, rather than declaring yourself to be "born a bad cook" and leave at that, as so many people unfortunately do.

2. No Knowledge
Magic is one of those things that you really do not get into contact with until you start digging and a search of your
own.Another problem with magic and knowledge is that there is very little COHESIVE information - it's all bits and pieces from this source or the other across the ages and cultures, and lots of it does not match…you can simply start assembling your very own knowledge, from scratch, through experimentation.Try a simple, simple spell. Do it many times. Take note of the results and what it felt like to do that. Keep what works, and discard what does not. Do it again and again until it works for you. Now you have a piece of REAL KNOWLEDGE - the rarest thing on the planet, indeed, for all the myriads of gazillions of Googles of words published across the times of men!So, if like the rest of us you have little or no knowledge of magic, that's fine. We're all in the same boat. Start learning for yourself TODAY, and your real knowledge will grow - and so will your magic, in direct proportion to that.

3. No Confidence
There is not a single thing you can do well without confidence, whether it is sex, rock and roll, dancing, typing, cooking, swimming, or riding a horse. If you haven't got any confidence, you're going to be feeble, hesitant, reversed, incongruent, and whimpering out at the first hurdle or difficulty.Confidence in magic is a multi-splendored thing. Believe it!  Yes, there is magic.
*) believe it's really there
*) treat yourselves gently at the start like you would a beginning anything, with easy exercises that hold lots of success to build our confidence.
*) storm out there and start looking with confidence and in earnest.

In Conclusion...
So these three, skills, knowledge and confidence are the top three areas which one needs to look at when "magic doesn't work" as it should.Any improvement or even Desire of improvement in these three key areas will become reflected in an immediate improvement in magical RESULTS.Now that is a very exciting thing!Imagine, for a moment, you are casting a luck spell and a lame bit of luck lamely manifests a few days later, like finding a quarter in the gutter.Alright, not exactly world shaking is it ...Now imagine, you improve your RESULTS through improving skills, knowledge and confidence and you cast that same luck spell again. Now, something else happens, something much BETTER and more EXCITING than the lame quarter in the gutter from the first attempt. Are you beginning to feel a small tingle yet creeping up your neck? Are you beginning to have an idea just what magic can do FOR YOU ? IF it is done well? Are you beginning to sense a growing feeling of motivation, of possibility, of unknown POTENTIAL starting to rise up within you?Is there an idea beginning to unfold before you, are you getting a whisper of just how LIMITLESS magic actually really is?If you are, then you are on your way and this article has served its purpose.Go back to your study of magic with a new view, with a clearer view on what YOU, very specifically YOU!, can do to improve your magic and get better results.
Start with these top three - skills, knowledge and confidence - build them gently, day by day within you.
